Manifestation Extraordinary  31 August 2019 to 16 February 2020
The manifestation Extraordinary is organized by exhibition space 38CC in parallel with the retrospective of Pieter de Hooch in Museum Prinsenhof. Where De Hooch recorded daily life in the 17th century on canvas, 38CC invited 25 (inter) nationally known artists of today to depict something of our own daily life in 2019. Their work, selected on the basis of the concepts of consumption, leisure, immediate living environment, social network and identity / the common man, was shown at five locations in the center of Delft. In addition, a parallel program was realized to broaden and deepen the theme.
Participating artists: Desiree de Baar (NL), Benedikte Bjerre (DK), F. Boccanegra (BE), Maze de Boer (NL), Koos Buster (NL), Natasha Caruana (GB), Paola Ciarska (PL), Priscila Fernandes (PT), Jakup Ferri (RKS), Leo Gabin (BE), Elise 't Hart (NL), Stef Kreymborg (NL), Peter de Krom (NL), Linsey Kuijpers (NL), Jelle Mastenbroek (NL), Inge Meijer (NL), Shana Moulton (US), Niels Post (NL), Martin and Inge Riebeek (NL), Paul de Reus (NL), Jelle Slof (NL), AnneMarie van Splunter (NL), Gitte Svendsen (DK), Erwin Wurm (AT)

Exhibitions Extraordinary

Oude Kerk Delft - Narrow House

The eye-catcher of the event was in the Oude Kerk: Narrow House by Erwin Wurm (AT). This world-famous absurdist version of the artist's parental home was shown for the first time in the Netherlands. Visitors could enter the house themselves to experience how narrow and cramped everything is on the inside. The contrast between the simple Austrian, post-war prefab house and the majestic architecture of the church was also remarkable. Extra attractive was the fact that Johannes Vermeer's grave lay at the feet of Narrow House.

Kadmium arts center

Every Bell Has Four Cells by Shana Moulton (US) was the big eye-catcher at Kadmium. Around it a monumental and colorful tapestry by Jakup Ferri (KRS), a countertop / kitchen unit made of bright pink, knitted wool by Desiree de Baar (NL), small paintings of toiletries by Jelle Slof (NL), an interactive work of stacks of items by Jelle Mastenbroek (NL) and a catchy video by AnneMarie van Splunter (NL) about the opening of curtains by children in the morning.

Museum Paul Tetar van Elven

In this 19th-century artist's house of the Delft painter Paul Tetar van Elven, contemporary art from: Fragments of a building by Desiree de Baar (NL), various ceramic objects by Koos Buster (NL), including his Cleaning trolley, miniature interiors painted by Paola Ciarska (GB), a cheerful cleaning video by Leo Gabin (BE), the Institute for House Sound by Elise 't Hart (NL) and some colorful sculptures by Gitte Svendsen (DE).
