(UN)MAKING IT HAPPEN
Yoshinari Nishiki, Myrthe Krepel, Janne Schimmel, Noud Sleumer, Studio Lernert & Sander, Thomas Thwaites, Risk Hazekamp, Elisa van Joolen and Mark Wang. 15.02.2025-21.04.2025

An energy drink made from Japanese knotweed, a smartphone destroyer, and a car made from willow branches, it can all be seen in the exhibition (un)making it happen. The starting point of the exhibition is the work of Japanese artist Yoshinari Nishiki, who has been occupied for years with the following question: What if we stop endlessly producing more sustainable things and ask ourselves why we make them at all? This led him to his current research into the concept of “(un)making”, for which he moves between the domains of art, science and design. Using projects by a selection of international artists and designers, the exhibition invites us to think about the systems and things around us. What do we value, and what do we find worthless?
