Low tide and plenty Rachel Bacon

"The water of the Schie has for centuries connected the Hooikade in Delft with Delfshaven and thus with the great oceans. In the 17th century, the Delft Chamber of the VOC had trading ships depart from Delfshaven to the Indies. This made Delft an important player in world trade. Nowadays, mainly pleasure boats sail on the Schie and many moors in the marina on the Hooikade. Rachel Bacon drew on history and current events with her installation. In the main hall a fleet of paper models of cargo ships can be seen. The accompanying containers are stacked on top of each other in an unbalanced way. The walls have a 397 meter line drawing showing the exact length of the largest container ship currently sailing. Small notes about meters and quantities and types of products being transported interrupt the lines here and Bacon shows a video work for the first time in the vault room, in which discarded consu are stacked mpted goods in a hammock. Until the hammock collapses under the weight. "
