"What happens if you pull apart the layers of paint that make up a painting? That is one of the things Esther Tielemans (1976) explores with her paintings and installations. In some of her works you can even walk between the layers of paint. In view of this spatial approach to traditional painting, 38CC has invited Tielemans for an exhibition. For 38CC Tielemans is making a new, spatial installation. Panels with shiny lacquer paints and epoxy resin reflect the environment and the viewer. On the walls around this installation she shows prints based on the walls of her studio, in which reproduction and brushstrokes merge. "
