Reflections Aart Houtman

July 23 to August 21, 2011

"Aart Houtman from Delft is a painter pur sang who knows how to manipulate color and paint in a virtuoso way. He often paints several, thick pasty layers in rich and varied colors. Around the turn of the century Houtman concludes that he is running up against boundaries. He asks himself out loud. wonder how many clods of paint you can actually give a painting. 'Distortion' of reality is playing an increasingly important role in his work: distortions and reflections in paint. These reflections are central in this exhibition. Reflections of his earlier work and literal repetitions of his studio in paintings. " Aart Houtman (born 1953) passed away on March 10, 2017.
