"When is a pattern purely decoration and when does it determine the way in which you experience a space? The starting point for Sigrid Calon's completely unique visual language is her fascination for abstract embroidery. Usually she first designs apparently simple patterns. Then she explores the possibilities of this. in different materials and techniques. Each time with a different effect. She not only produces autonomous prints, but also books, tapestries and wallpaper designs. From these she often develops large installations that cover the entire space. What makes Calon's work special is it balancing on the border between autonomous and applied art For her solo exhibition in 38CC, Sigrid Calon has created a new spatial installation in the main hall. To give the viewer insight into her way of thinking and working, she also shows parts of the projects TO THE EXTEND OF / \ | & - and LETTERS BECOME PATTERNS. "
